My Review of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

This was definitely worth the read. I can see what people love about it so much.

Reading this story reminded me of my days in clinicals. I remember wondering what each person who lived in the nursing home's story was. You care for them, but don't usually think about that kind of thing. Now that I read this book, I wonder what their lives were like before they ended up there. What were some memories from their life that made it so great? What made them end up here? I would love to take the time to hear their stories. It's especially sweet to see couples sticking together and still loving each other while in there. I seen a few couples that were in the nursing home together and still acted like nothing had ever changed in their daily life. It was so cute to see the love between them even after so many years of being together.

The continued love between Noah and Allie was touching to me. But, the one thing that really made me upset was how Allie was. When she first met Noah, she knew she had a boyfriend back home, yet she still continued to fall for Noah and even go as far as losing her virginity to him. Then, when she came back 14 years later to see Noah, she also knew she was engaged, yet still allowed herself to have sex with Noah again. The least she could have done was tell her boyfriend and Lon that she wanted to end things. She never told Lon a thing and ended up breaking his heart. That's what really upset me. I am glad she followed her heart, but I wish she would've told those men that she was no longer in love with them or that she wanted to break up or something instead of waiting until she already had cheated on both of them with Noah to let them know what happened and how she felt.

Another thing that upset me about the book was how short the beginning of Noah and Allie's story was. I enjoyed reading about their love story, but I felt like it was way too short. I wanted to read more about how their first summer together went, how Noah and Allie's life was after Allie finally made her decision, stuff like that. It didn't seem enough to just read about the two days they had spent together. I would've been so much happier if I could've read more about the shared love they had throughout the years.

Overall, it was a pretty good story to read. It reminds you that there is still hope for true love to happen in this world, that there are still people out there who will stay together with you for the rest of your life no matter what may happen. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a touching love story or anyone who just enjoys romance.
