My Review of Dracula by Bram Stoker

Wow. What a perfect book to read during the month of October. Stoker did an amazing job making the book as scary and creepy as possible.

The two main parts that really freaked me out most was when Dracula crawled down his castle wall like a lizard, and Dracula's eyes being red. I pictured his eyes glowing at night, so every time I read about a scene where he was out at night, I imagined that his eyes glowed this haunting shade of red as he looked at anyone who dared to glance in his direction.

I think it really sucked that Lucy and Quincey had to die. Sure, both of them didn't really do much throughout most of the story, but they were still important parts. I'm glad Quincey died a hero. I'm also glad that they saved Lucy by killing her with a stake through the heart so that she would not have to live the rest of her immortal days as a vampire; that she could go peacefully into the afterlife without having to be controlled by a force that was not her own anymore.

The ending let me down a bit. I figured Dracula would have put up more of a fight than he actually did. It was still a great ending, though.

Overall, I enjoyed it. The book had some slow parts, but that didn't take away from the story's excitement. Each page was filled with a new piece to the puzzle and ended peacefully and happily. I would definitely recommend this to anyone either looking for a great classic or a good scary read.
